How to Arrange a Funeral
A Guide to Arranging a Funeral
Arranging a funeral is a bewildering task, even if you have arranged a funeral before. Evidence suggests that over 70% of people making funeral arrangements have never arranged a funeral so if you are concerned about making funeral arrangements, you are not alone!
Cultural and religious outlooks
Jerrams Brothers are experienced in all aspects of arranging a funeral and will be ready to make all the arrangements on your behalf. In these days of differing cultural and religious outlooks Jerrams will support your wishes, whatever they may be.
An outline meeting
If you have suffered a bereavement you should contact Jerrams Brothers to arrange an initial discussion. We are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to support you. We will always respond promptly to your request for a meeting and are usually free on the same day you contact us. The initial discussion with one of our staff is an outline meeting and from there the funeral director will start to act on your behalf to arrange the funeral. The initial discussion meeting could be at one of our offices but more commonly we arrange a home visit to see a family.
The initial discussion is informal and we are always ready to go at a slow pace. You will not be asked to make any big decisions, nor asked to sign any documents or make any financial commitments, unless you feel ready to do so.
From this initial meeting the staff of Jerrams Brothers will be working on your behalf to arrange and conduct a suitable and fitting funeral for your family, usually a week to ten days later.
Part of this service is to arrange and confirm the day and the time of the service along with contacting all necessary ministers etc and key people who will be involved in the service.
Later in the process of arranging the funeral you will meet the funeral director again to go through the details of the arrangements. At this stage we will also confirm all our arrangements in writing to you for your approval.
This will include a summary of the funeral expenses and a discussion of our terms and conditions. This is the point at which you will enter into a legal agreement for Jerrams Brothers to provide funeral services on your behalf.
